Haas F1 team sidelined for rest of Wednesday's Barcelona test
Haas has been forced to call an early halt to running at the second pre-season Formula 1 test for the second successive day due to technical issues
Esteban Gutierrez completed just 23 laps on Tuesday due to a fuel system problem, followed by an overnight change of the turbocharger.
Owner Gene Haas has confirmed the replacement turbo ran too high with its rpm on Gutierrez's installation lap on Wednesday morning, forcing power unit supplier Ferrari to immediately abort track time.
Despite a lengthy analysis of the issue by the Scuderia and an attempt to again replace the faulty component, Haas has confirmed running out of time in its bid to return to the circuit.
The American team now has just two days of testing remaining to gather data and rack up more meaningful mileage this week following a solid first test last week.
Prior to calling time on the day, Haas earlier conceded to being "very frustrated" at the issues that had overshadowed the week so far.
With the first practice session for the opening grand prix in Australia just over two weeks away, Haas has also confirmed now being "nervous" about the situation.
As Gutierrez has covered just 24 laps on his schedule two days, Haas has also hinted the programme for the rest of the week may be altered.
Although Romain Grosjean is scheduled to be in the car on Thursday and Friday, Gutierrez may yet get another half day to compensate.
Haas said: "It would be better to balance things out to give each driver some more time.
"We did one race simulation last week. If we can do another race simulation that would be good, we still have to practice pitstops. There's a lot to get done."
