Grapevine: Vettel stars in Berlin Red Bull F1 run
Sebastian Vettel continued his Formula 1 world championship victory celebrations today by demonstrating his Red Bull-Renault on the streets of Berlin
The German produced a spectacular show for the crowds of fans who had gathered to line the 500-metre route leading to the Brandenburg Gate.
Earlier in the week, Vettel had said on his personal website that driving his F1 car through Berlin had been a long-held ambition.
"I've always wanted to race through the streets of Berlin and on Saturday," he wrote.
"This is just my way of saying thanks to all my German fans for their support and their dedication throughout the whole season."
Vettel, who became the youngest-ever F1 champion when he came from behind to clinch the title with victory in Abu Dhabi, will now head to the Race of Champions in Dusseldorf, where he is paired with Michael Schumacher in Team Germany for tonight's Nations' Cup.
The German's team-mate Mark Webber is also conducting an F1 demonstration this weekend, joining recently-announced Toro Rosso Friday driver Daniel Ricciardo to drive Red Bull F1 cars at Australia's Wanneroo circuit tomorrow. Ricciardo also demonstrated the cars on Perth's Riverside Drive yesterday during the city's inaugural Festival of Speed.
