Grapevine: Simple Plan to Perform in Montreal
Canadian Grand Prix organisers have decided to follow the example set by Silverstone and Sepang in putting on a post-race music concert after this year's Formula One race
In a bid to further boost race-day attendance at the June 12 event, a special stage will be constructed at the east hairpin of the Montreal track for a special gig by popular Canadian band Simple Plan.
Martin Spalding, vice-president and general manager of the Canadian Grand Prix, said: "Many Grand Prix enthusiasts have mentioned that they enjoy staying on the site after the race.
"For those who like to take advantage of the enjoyable ambiance and extend their stay on the island, we've decided this year to offer an exclusive musical performance of international calibre."
The British Grand Prix started its own post-race concerts two years ago when Status Quo entertained fans, before The Beach Boys were called up last year. Status Quo also helped out in a post-race gig at Malaysia earlier this season.
