Grapevine: Renault Join Forces with Oxfam for Charity

The Renault Formula One team will join forces with international development charity Oxfam for the second consecutive year in order to raise money for a campaign to provide water for poor rural communities in North Eastern Brazil.

The Renault Formula One team will join forces with international development charity Oxfam for the second consecutive year in order to raise money for a campaign to provide water for poor rural communities in North Eastern Brazil.

Following the success of last year's event, Renault and Oxfam have again set up an online charity auction that will include signed race overalls from Fernando Alonso and Jarno Trulli, other articles of team clothing, parts from the team's cars and a VIP visit for two to Renault's Technical Centre in Enstone.

"It is a good opportunity to be able to help Oxfam with this project," said Spaniard Alonso. "We race in Brazil every year, and therefore felt it would make sense to be involved in this project. It is great that items that could save our lives during a Grand Prix, can then contribute to improving the lives of others."

The auction will be hosted by eBay, and it will go live for bids today and run until September 1. All money raised will go to Oxfam, and bidding is open to anyone in the world with internet access.
