Grapevine: McLaren Factory Wins Award
McLaren boss Ron Dennis's huge investment in his team's state-of-the-art factory, the McLaren Technology Centre, has earned him one of architecture's biggest accolades, with the facility taking home the Royal Fine Art Commission Trust's Building of the Year Award at a ceremony in London on Thursday
The MTC, which houses the Formula One team and Mercedes-Benz SLR production, was opened last year and was designed by world famous architect Lord Foster and his company Foster and Partners.
Speaking about the award, Dennis said: "We are very proud that the McLaren Technology Centre has won the Royal Fine Art Commission Trust's Building of the Year award. There are many parallels between Foster and Partners and the McLaren Group and this led to a strong working relationship, a motivational environment for McLaren Group employees and a tremendous architectural statement."
