Grapevine: Ferrari Deny Monza Cover-Up Reports
Ferrari denied a report published by German magazine Bild, which claimed the Italian outfit were trying to hide information about Michael Schumacher's accident at Monza.
Ferrari denied a report published by German magazine Bild, which claimed the Italian outfit were trying to hide information about Michael Schumacher's accident at Monza.
The report claimed that sporting director Jean Todt had decided to confiscate the footage of the crash and also said that Ferrari's star Schumacher was refusing to return to testing duties at Monza after the accident
"Those reports are unfounded," said Ferrari. "The crash was serious and he is staying at home to recover well. He needs to prepare properly for the German GP.
"But if it was up to him, he would return to the track immediately. Ferrari will continue testing as programmed with [Rubens] Barrichello at Monza and [Luca] Badoer at Fiorano."
Schumacher lost control of his car at the Variante della Roggia corner and crashed heavily against the tyre barriers, being forced to undergo medical tests to check his condition. After further tests in Geneva on Wednesday, the German driver was given the all-clear to return to racing.
