Renault technical director Mike Gascoyne fuelled speculation about his future today when he refused to confirm or deny rumours of an impending move to rivals Toyota.
Asked directly at a British Grand Prix news conference whether he was off to Toyota, Gascoyne replied that he remained focused on next year's car and had not attended recent Grands Prix because his son was born three weeks ago.
"Also we have a philosophy at Renault that you win races in the wind tunnel, you win them in the design offices," he added.
"This is a pitlane that thrives on rumour and this a room full of people that thrive on it as well," he said. "I think two years ago, at this time of the year, I was being sacked for performance and now I'm being poached.
"I have no comment on what I am doing in the future but while I'm sitting here my job is to put 100 percent of my effort into my two cars beating (the others)."
