Fisichella Thankful to Alonso
Giancarlo Fisichella hailed some advice about track conditions from teammate Fernando Alonso as the key factor that allowed him to grab a slot on the first row of the grid
Alonso told the Italian through the team that wind conditions had changed since practice - meaning extra caution needed to be taken at Turn 12.
When asked whether that advice had helped, Fisichella said: "Yes. There was a very strong wind on the start-finish line and quite a lot of strong wind at the end of the back straight and especially in the braking point it was pretty difficult, but it was a clean lap.
"I was a bit conservative on the first and second parts but on the last sector I did very well. And considering even Barrichello was very close it was good," added the Italian, who encountered Ferrari driver Rubens Barrichello in the final part of his lap.
"It is encouraging for tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it, and I want to go for the podium although the target is to win the race."
