Fisichella says France should be better

Benetton driver Giancarlo Fisichella's difficult season continued at the Nurburgring and the Italian says he wants to forget the European Grand Prix as fast as he can and move on to the next round in France

Fisichella says France should be better

Fisichella once again struggled with his uncompetitive Renault-powered B201and come home 11th with team mate Jenson Button two places back in 13th.

Fisichella says he was plagued with technical problems for the entire race, but now he can't wait for the French Grand Prix next week because he is optimistic about new engine developments.

"The best thing is to put this race behind us and forget about it," said Fisichella, who scored Benetton's sole point this season at the Brazilian GP in March.

"In qualifying and the race we were not competitive enough. I gained a couple of places at the start and was pushing hard in my first stint, but the rear of the car was sliding about. I also had oversteer all through the race, so it has been very hard work. Our target was to make the finish, which I did.

"Even so I am quite optimistic for the next race at Magny Cours because we will have a big step-up in power, even a few aerodynamic changes. I am quite confident about it even though the race was very difficult. I drove as hard as I could and I am going into next weekend's French Grand Prix with a positive frame of mind."
