Fisichella Eyes Renault One-Two

Italian Giancarlo Fisichella believes Renault can finish first and second in the French Grand Prix on Sunday

Renault have not won on home soil since Alain Prost clinched victory in the French Grand Prix at the wheel of his RE 40 turbo in 1983.

"We are in France, so this race is very important for the team," said Fisichella, who will start from sixth position on the grid.

"We have to win this race. I am really confident I can get on the podium. I even think we can make a one-two with Fernando (Alonso)," he added.

World Championship leader Alonso put Renault on pole when he clocked a best time of 1:14.412 in qualifying on Saturday.

Fisichella is not even thinking about beating his teammate but he is sure he can leapfrog seven-times World Champion Michael Schumacher in a Ferrari.

Schumacher set the fourth fastest time in the qualifying session and will start from third place.

"I'm very confident. I think we can have a good start. I overtook Michael in Canada so I'm sure I can do it again," Fisichella said.

Fisichella said the icing on the cake would be to have compatriot Jarno Trulli in third place in his Toyota.

"We met 20 years ago, we have friends in common. I would be delighted if he could make it to the podium," Fisichella said.

Trulli finished second in the qualifying session and will start from the front row alongside Alonso.

Alonso leads the Drivers' Championship with 59 points from nine races, 25 ahead of Finn Kimi Raikkonen, who will start from 13th place as a penalty for an unscheduled engine change following a failure in Friday's practice.
