Fisi hoping for 'unusual' weather
Giancarlo Fisichella is hoping that the fickle weather of the Eifel mountain region in which the Nurburgring is located could help the Jordan team into the points in this weekend's European Grand Prix
The British outfit has struggled with a lack of pace and reliability problems since Fisichella took a shock win in the rain-affected Brazilian Grand Prix, and the Italian has confessed that it will take more unusual conditions for the team to stand a chance of points.
"With our package at the moment it's probably a bit ambitious to hope for glory and I'm looking forward to the introduction of a new aerodynamic package next month," said Fisichella. "The car is not performing as consistently as I'd like and I always have to hope for cool or unusual conditions to see if we have a better chance.
"I know the team is working hard to give me a quicker car and this is keeping me well focussed on my job."
Fisichella's team-mate, Briton Ralph Firman, is also looking for an up-turn in form as the season heads into its second half. The rookie has admitted that he needs to start scoring points soon as he bids to keep his place in F1 next year.
"I can't believe half the season has passed by already," said Firman. "I've done eight races in F1 and am starting to feel comfortable with the car and know how to find the limits quickly at each track.
"Just about every race is a new circuit for me so I'm still learning and hoping for results in the second half of the season. It's really important for me to score points regularly in the next few Grands Prix and I'm working hard with the team to make sure we're both in a position to do that."
