Firman to drive Jordan at Macau

Jordan's Ralf Firman will make history later this year when he becomes the first man to lap the legendary Macau street circuit in a contemporary Formula 1 car

Firman to drive Jordan at Macau

Firman, currently sidelined from F1 with an inner ear problem, will take to the fearsome Guia circuit on November 15/16 to celebrate the 50th running of the Macau event. The Briton won the prestigious Macau Grand Prix, which is run for Formula 3 cars, in 1996.

The EJ13 demonstration will be a tribute to Teddy Yip, who passed away in July this year aged 90. Ayrton Senna took victory in Macau's first Formula 3 race in 1983 with Yip's Theodore Racing Team.

"I have great memories of Macau," said Eddie Jordan. "Particularly as part of Theodore Racing when we ran Ayrton Senna, and I'm very proud to take part in this unique event and further strengthen Jordan's links with China."

The co-ordinator of Macau Grand Prix Committee, João Manuel Costa Antunes, commented: "Like thousands of motorsport fans in the region, we are looking forward to celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the Grand Prix with the spectacle of a modern Formula 1 car on the streets of Macau. The demonstration will add to the tremendous event we have planned for this year, and be a celebration of all the extraordinary achievements of Teddy Yip, who contributed so much to the event."

Will 2022's all-new cars look like F1's concept model?

Formula 1 provided its clearest example yet of what the 2022 cars are set to look like when it presented a full-scale concept to the world during the build-up to last weekend’s British Grand Prix. Underneath the special shiny livery was a design that hinted at the future, but teams will be digging into key areas that may reap differing results
