Ferrari Duo Quickest at Barcelona - Day Two

Italian Luca Badoer finished on top of the timesheets for the second consecutive day at the Barcelona circuit, where the Ferrari team outpaced their Sauber rivals, who were the only other team on track.

Italian Luca Badoer finished on top of the timesheets for the second consecutive day at the Barcelona circuit, where the Ferrari team outpaced their Sauber rivals, who were the only other team on track.

Badoer was joined today by Brazilian Rubens Barrichello, who got back to work for the first time since the end of the 2002 season. Badoer, who continued to work on tyre testing for Bridgestone, outpaced Barrichello by over half a second after 81 laps.

German Nick Heidfeld was third quickest at the wheel of the Petronas-powered C21, the Sauber driver feeling better after begin hit by a fever on the first day of work. Heidfeld was able to complete a damper development programme that he began yesterday.

"I felt a lot better today after a good sleep last night," said Heidfeld at the end of the day. "I was comfortable running in the car. Weather permitting, Team Sauber Petronas will be able to complete the program tomorrow."

Heidfeld outpaced his teammate Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who today completed 53 laps as he continued to work on the aerodynamics of his car. The veteran German, however, rued the bad weather that hampered their progress in today's session, as the drivers had to wait for a thick fog to lift before they could hit the track.

"It's always frustrating to be at a race track and not be able to drive, but once the fog lifted we were able to carry on with our program," he said. "Once again, the car was reliable and we had another productive afternoon."

Testing at Barcelona will conclude tomorrow.
