Ecclestone Wants to See Irvine Return

Formula One's commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone said he would like to see Eddie Irvine return to Formula One, after speculations in Monaco that Irvine could be involved in a buyout of the Jordan team

Irvine, who drove for Jordan, Ferrari and Jaguar, retired from Formula One after the 2002 season. He was seen at the F1 paddock in every Grand Prix weekend since Imola, leading to heightened speculations that he is looking to make a return as a team boss.

And Ecclestone backed the idea, telling The Sunday Telegraph: "I like the idea of Eddie being involved. He will make a lot of noise and upset a few people. It will be good for F1 but he won't be putting any of his own money in."

According to the newspaper, Irvine is heading a group of Russian businessmen who want to buy the Jordan team for 12 million GBP ($20 million USD) - half the price current owner Alex Shnaider has reportedly paid Eddie Jordan, some six months ago.
