Ecclestone: No hope for Canadian GP
Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone says there is no chance that the Canadian Grand Prix will be reinstated on the 2009 calendar
The Montreal race was absent from the schedule released by the FIA last week, a decision that meant North America was left with no races for 2009.
Although teams bosses held talks today about ways to save the race, one team principal said after the meeting that Canada seemed "dead in the water".
"Well, they would not know," Ecclestone said when asked about some team principals' comments that there was no hope for Canada.
"But I know - and they are right," he told autosport.com.
When asked if there was hope of a return, Ecclestone said: "No, I don't think so."
The F1 boss also made it clear that no race would replace the French Grand Prix, which was cancelled due to financial difficulties.
"No, because they want 17 races. So they have got 17 races now."
Ecclestone said the calendar would be reshuffled to get rid of some gaps.
"Yes, we will have a little bit of a go," said.
