Di Resta happy with Force India run

Paul di Resta has declared himself pleased with his half-day at the wheel of Force India's VJM-03 at Jerez today, despite the test being affected by constantly-changing weather

Di Resta, who will serve as a Friday test driver with the team at most of the races during 2010, spent the morning in the car before handing it over to Adrian Sutil early in the afternoon. Sutil and Tonio Liuzzi are scheduled to drive the car for the remainder of this week's test, but the Scot said that even with the rain, he'd still achieved what he needed to.

"I think it was quite productive," he told AUTOSPORT. "The main goal today was to get the 300kms for the superlicence. We had to run when the conditions weren't probably anywhere near consistent enough to do anything useful.

"It was just a matter of getting the mileage - which we achieved so that was the main objective. We get 10 laps in semi-dry conditions, and that gave me a little bit of an impression of the car. In that respect it wasn't too bad - but it would be nice to get some dry running when I get back in the car."

Di Resta completed a total of 74 laps while Sutil managed just 28, but he insisted that the Sutil's lack of running was primarily a reaction to the conditions rather than any major problems.

"There was no problem," he said. "I think it was just when I finished and then the changeover, just before I think they were going to go out they had that heavy shower and the track conditions were inconsistent again. It was just productive running - not wasting too much time when it's unnecessary."
