Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa is scheduled to test for the McLaren team this week at the Jerez circuit, although the former Jaguar driver said he hasn't signed a deal with the Woking-based outfit.
De la Rosa, who made his Grand Prix debut with Arrows in 1999, was dumped by the Jaguar team at the end of last year despite having a year of his contract left to run, and was left without a seat in Formula One for 2003.
The Catalan, however, will return to action on Wednesday, when he will work for the McLaren team for a one-off test replacing David Coulthard and Kimi Raikkonen.
"They called me a couple of days ago to test with them alongside Alex Wurz at Jerez," the Spanish driver said. "That doesn't mean that I have a contract with them, but that their two official drivers, Kimi and David, are not returning to Europe this week as they are getting ready for the race in Malaysia. They needed a driver and they thought of me.
"It's fantastic to get a call from McLaren. I'm looking forward to driving a car with the potential of the MP4-17D."
