Davidson hopes Indy moves end doubts

Anthony Davidson believes his overtaking moves in the United States Grand Prix will finally silence the doubters who claim that he could have lost his racing instincts by being a test driver for too long

The Super Aguri driver pulled off some great manoeuvres at Indianapolis, including a daring move past Honda Racing's Jenson Button, to equal his best result of the season.

And Davidson thinks that the experience proved that he still has his racing abilities after being a BAR and Honda test driver since 2001.

"It was great fun to catch cars and pass them," Davidson told autosport.com. "I haven't done that for five years.

"It was really nice to show that you don't lose anything with your race craft by being a test driver, and probably I hope it shut all the doubters up."

Davidson admitted he had been waiting for just such an opportunity to prove himself this season, having seen teammate Takuma Sato demonstrate his prowess with two-point scoring finishes.

"I've seen Taku race well and through the year I have seen him make a name for himself. The guys here are cheering like mad for him. And he is a hero in Spain for overtaking the legend of (Fernando) Alonso in Canada.

"I needed it to be my turn and Indy was my turn. Hopefully people can now see that the fighter is there inside of me, and I am a different person in the car compared to how I am out of it."
