Coulthard 'Too Cautious' on Flying Lap
David Coulthard believes that Red Bull Racing could have done better in first qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix, despite grabbing a place inside the top 10
The Briton, who had scored points in the first three races of the year, admitted that he not attacked too much on his lap but believed that the key to more performance is the team unlocking more speed from their car.
Coulthard said: "I was a bit too cautious in the final sector of my lap, so I think I could have got another half second out of the car.
"We have done a slightly better job in qualifying here than we did in Imola, but I think we still need to get more out of the car's potential. That is the only way for us to move forward.
"Having said that, I am reasonably comfortable with the race balance for tomorrow."
Teammate Vitantonio Liuzzi ended up 13th after suffering brake problems.
"Qualifying did not go too well for me," said the Italian. "I had a problem with the brakes at turn 10. We changed something on the brakes before the session and it obviously did not do the job. Also, I locked the car in the hairpin and went straight otherwise the car was not too bad.
"But I think it will be very difficult for us tomorrow, in terms of moving up the grid. We will have to wait and see how the race pans out."
