Coulthard looks to Jordan
David Coulthard is still determined to race in Formula 1 in 2005 and it's now looking as though his last real chance is with Jordan and its recently-acquired Toyota engine deal
Red Bull Racing boss Dieter Mateschitz has made it clear that he's unimpressed by the Scot's 13 Grand Prix wins and is not interested in taking him on as team leader and it appears that he's not on the short-list for a race drive at Williams either, which leaves only Jordan as a realistic chance for DC.
"I've been offered test driver roles," Coulthard told The Independent newspaper. "But as long as there is still a chance of racing I must pursue that."
Jordan is thought again to be on the verge of reaching a deal with Arden F3000 team boss Christian Horner on a buy-in and Coulthard's speed and experience could well be attractive to Horner.
Other likely contenders for Jordan seats include Toyota protege Ryan Briscoe and Vitantonio Liuzzi, the man who won the 2004 F3000 Championship with Horner's Arden squad.
Signing Briscoe would earn the team brownie points with Toyota - and possibly a discount on engine bills - while Horner is known to be very keen to run Liuzzi. The Italian is currently testing for Red Bull Racing, but it seems that RBR is determined to give Christian Klien another season in F1 and is not keen to recruit a more experienced racer alongside him - a role for which Nick Heidfeld seems favourite.
