Coulthard hoping for another podium
David Coulthard is eager to continue his recent good form by taking another podium finish in Sunday's European GP
A win and a second place in the past two races has moved the Scot into fourth in the overall standings, just a point behind the Williams drivers who are tied for second. After a sluggish start to the season McLaren-Mercedes is now closer to the pace of the leading runners and Coulthard reckons that local support will spur the team on this weekend.
"I am looking forward to the European Grand Prix, where I will hopefully continue my current run of podium finishes," said Coulthard. "It will be interesting to see how the new revisions alter the track, apart from making it slightly longer. There is always an enthusiastic atmosphere at the Nurburgring, as it is a home race for Mercedes-Benz so we always have a lot of crowd support."
Kimi Raikkonen has been close to Coulthard's pace this year, but has finished just two races in the points. The Finn is looking follow up his fourth place in Canada with another strong showing.
"The Nurburgring always seems to host exciting grands prix, due to the number of real overtaking opportunities," said Raikkonen. "The track offers a good combination of corners and fast straights, which makes the race interesting to drive and for the crowd to watch. I am looking forward to racing in front of the fans and hope we can secure a good result for them."
