Commitment is key to results at Jordan

Jordan's director of race and test engineering, Gary Anderson, has said that hard graft will be the key to the team's fortunes in 2003, even if it gets off to a bad start in Melbourne this weekend

Jordan enters the Australian Grand Prix with just 20 days of testing under its belt with the new EJ13 chassis. After a number of reliability problems with the Ford-powered machine, Anderson is content with the state of affairs but is not expecting an easy ride when the season gets underway.

"In general the EJ13 is a better car to drive than last year's," said Anderson. "As the season goes on, if we are not there, we have to work hard to pull ourselves up. We are running a lean structure and that means longer hours and more commitment from everybody.

"It's never easy but nobody has quivered at the commitment. We're at the start of the new season and hopefully the hard work will bring us rewards," he added.

Team boss Eddie Jordan, who admitted his squad had suffered a harsh winter in the economic climate, said: "The teams who have had to weather difficult times have learnt important skills from that experience and will be better placed for the future."
