Button: Team did a great job
Jenson Button paid tribute to his Williams team after dominating the final pre-season test session at Silverstone
The 20-year-old was nearly a second quicker than McLaren's David Coulthard during the final test before next weekend's Australian Grand Prix.
Button completed 47 laps, setting a fastest lap of 1.26.38s, compared to Coulthard's time of 1.27.22s.
Speaking after Wednesday's session, Button claimed his performance was down to team effort.
"This Silverstone test has proved invaluable for my learning and development," he said.
"While we mustn't read too much into lap times at test sessions, I am obviously very pleased to be on the pace, especially since I had never driven a Formula 1 car at Silverstone before until yesterday.
"The team has done a great job over the past few weeks and now it's down to me in Melbourne.
"All I can say is that I'll give it my absolute best.
"However, as we have said before, this is a development year for the BMW WilliamsF1 team and we are being realistic about our level of performance this season."
