Button relieved after overdue victory
Briton Jenson Button sounded relieved after he seized the first victory of his Formula One career in a Hungarian Grand Prix thriller on Sunday
Button's win, from 14th on the grid after a 10-place penalty for an unscheduled engine change on Saturday, was Honda's first as a constructor since 1967 and provided a story book ending to a weekend full of drama and surprise.
It was Button's 113th attempt.
"It is great to get the first win after so long, a great feeling for the team," said 26-year-old Button. "It is great I won't have to do those interviews any more 113 GPs with no wins anymore, so it will be great to say 113 GPs and one win."
The first British winner of a Grand Prix since David Coulthard for McLaren in Australia three years ago, Button finished 30.8 seconds clear of Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa de la Rosa.
"The problem is that it feels so normal already. What a day," added Button. "It has been amazing, the weather conditions made the race very difficult for anyone. Coming through from 14th to win the race couldn't be better.
"I want to thank everyone. It is nice to see we have got a car that can win races. The team have been working so hard and taken so many years to get here, but we are finally here.
"If my voice sounds funny it is because I have been screaming so much. It was fun closing down on Alonso. We made a great choice of tyres and especially the last pitstop. We had been a thinking team today, not just had the best car out there."
The Briton admitted he enjoyed the last 10 laps, where he had no opposition chasing him.
"Amazing, the last 10 laps I didn't want the race to end, normally when you are in the lead I suppose it goes on forever. I was loving it," he added.
"It was the best feeling knowing you are on your way home to winning your first GP."
