Button Frustrated by Fuel Problems

Briton Jenson Button admitted that he failed to understand frantic calls from his BAR-Honda team for him to pit for fuel before grinding to a halt in Sunday's French Grand Prix.

Briton Jenson Button admitted that he failed to understand frantic calls from his BAR-Honda team for him to pit for fuel before grinding to a halt in Sunday's French Grand Prix.

Button, who started from 14th on the grid after struggling with a lack of track time over the weekend, made his way up the field only to drop out when he ran out of fuel on lap 23.

"It was frustrating," said a disappointed Button. "I didn't get all the fuel I needed. The team called me in just as I got to the pit entrance because they were so frantic in a language that didn't really sound like English.

"I don't speak any other language, so I didn't come in and that was it. I noticed about 300 metres before we stopped that there were a couple of hiccups but there was nothing we could do."

Button is now 11th in the Championship table after Jaguar driver Mark Webber, of Australia, scored three points for sixth place and leapfrogged the BAR-Honda driver in the Championship table.
