Briatore Ready to Quit after Title
Renault boss Flavio Briatore has dropped a further hint that he will quit Formula One at the end of the year, after suggesting at the weekend that if Renault win the Championship then he will walk away from the sport
Briatore's contract with the French manufacturer runs out in the middle of this year, although the Italian has made no secret of the fact that he will see out the season irrespective of his future plans.
However, speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Briatore made it clear that if Fernando Alonso or Giancarlo Fisichella can continue their early form and triumph this season then he will give up his F1 role.
"All that interests me is winning the Championship," he said. "I want to see my people on top of the world. If this happens, would be very satisfying to me. After that, I don't know.
"I live like a gypsy. No roots, not base, a lot of pressure. Very, very, very few friends. I am Italian by passport but I feel part of Europe, part of the world.
"If Renault win the Championship I will give it all up and go to live on some island."
