Barrichello targets home win

Rubens Barrichello, still without a win as Ferrari team leader Michael Schumacher established a new record 12 victories in a year, has targeted a win in his home grand prix at Interlagos, the final race of the season

Barrichello used the softer Bridgestone tyre at Hungaroring but still could not challenge Schumacher despite appearing quicker at various stages of the weekend.

Bridgestone's technical department thought that there was little difference between the two tyres but Barrichello, who set comfortably the quickest lap of the weekend in Saturday's pre-qualifying session, felt that the full benefits of his tyre choice were negated by heavy rain on Saturday night washing the circuit clean.

"I was quite happy with my tyre decision," Barrichello said, "but sometimes not everything that you want, happens. It was not the case that the team put it to me and I had to accept it. I liked the decision."

Of the five remaining opportunities to beat Schumacher this year, Rubens said: "For Michael, probably the next race, in Spa, is very important for him (a win would seal Schumacher's seventh world title), and for me Brazil is going to be the most important one. That's my main aim, to see if I can win my home race. It's going to be the best opportunity in my life."
