Barrichello delighted with third

Rubens Barrichello outqualified Michael Schumacher for the first time in the dry as he put himself third for the Austrian Grand Prix. In fact, the tables have well and truly turned, as the Brazilian has out-performed the championship leader in all but one of the sessions over the last two days

He put it down to a refreshing week's holiday in his native Brazil last week, much like polesitter Mika Hakkinen, who was granted a rest period by his team. "I had a good time off last week. I'm relaxed and feel good about being third on the grid. The car is running well and everything going well right now," he said.

After qualifying Barrichello claimed he could have gone even faster than he did: "I love the track and found a good set up for the car," said Barrichello.

"We had the potential to be on the first row today if everything had gone right. The car is performing quite well, obviously not as well as the cars in front, but it is consistent and the tyre wear is looking good."

This is the second time Barrichello has outqualified his team-mate, the first being pole at Silverstone. However, Austria was dry but for a few spots of rain at the opening of the session, and Barrichello can well and truly be said to have beaten Schumacher on merit on this occasion
