Barrichello advises new boy Burti
New Jaguar signing Luciano Burti has been warned to focus on his own performance rather than trying to beat team-mate Eddie Irvine in 2001
Burti's close friend Rubens Barrichello said his fellow Brazilian, who was confirmed as Johnny Herbert replacement in the team for 2001 this weekend, should just concentrate on working for the team.
Barrichello has admitted he concentrated too much on trying to outpace Irvine when the duo drove for Jordan in 1994-5.
"Luciano should just concentrate on doing his own job," said Barrichello.
"At the end of the day the drivers are trying to help the team. Luciano has to participate in a team way.
"He should just concentrate on his job and not try to beat Eddie. If he's doing well in his own right then he should do a good job overall."
He 25-year-old from Sao Paulo has been Jaguar's test driver all season and
steps up to full-time F1 competition at the start of next season.
Burti has already made his Grand Prix debut, substituting for Irvine at short notice when the latter was taken ill prior to the Austrian Grand Prix.
