British American Racing finished its South African adventure following a gruelling 10-day test at Kyalami

Both the BAR-Honda and Williams -BMW teams extended their stay at the South African circuit after testing had been delayed, due to the nation's wettest February in living memory.

Jacques Villeneuve returned to the cockpit to complete the final two days of testing, setting a total of 198 laps, with a fastest time of 1.23.271s.

The Canadian said: "We have made some real progress, but it was a bit of a frustrating test to be honest.

"We lost time in the first few days to the weather and then we have had some little problems in these two final days.

"The car is running strongly, though, and we are improving the pace all the time. We still have work to do and Jerez will be important next week."

Team-mate Ricardo Zonta was second quickest, ahead of Williams duo Ralf Schumacher and Jenson Button.

The Brazilian drove 323 laps, with a fastest time of 1.23.363s.

"It has been great to get a long stretch of running this week," said Zonta.

"It has helped me to develop the car to my liking and that makes me more confident on the track."
