Balance Problems Hinder Red Bull Duo
Scot David Coulthard said he was surprised by the inconsistency of his Red Bull car after failing to shine at the British Grand Prix
Coulthard finished down in 13th position after his car's handling proved unpredictable during most of the 60-lap event.
The Red Bull driver, hoping to fight for the points despite a disappointing qualifying, was unable to recover from his low position despite his car proving to have a stronger pace during the final part of the race.
"I was surprised by the inconsistency of the car actually," said Coulthard.
"At the start, I struggled with oversteer, so when we stopped we took a sizeable chunk of aero out of the car. After that, I still wasn't happy with the balance, but then, ten laps before the second pitstop, the car suddenly changed and started going much quicker. So much so, I was struggling to keep up with it.
"We definitely need to work on a few things, but the support I received from the British fans here, both before and during the race, was fantastic and I hope they enjoyed the show."
Teammate Christian Klien also suffered from problems with the balance of the RBR01 and finished in 15th position.
"Fifteenth is very disappointing," Klien said. "The car was quite difficult to drive in sections and I didn't have the balance that I needed."
