Ferrari's test driver Luca Badoer set the fastest lap on the second day of testing at the Jerez circuit, where the Italian squad joined the Williams team today.
Getting back to work for the first time after the Christmas break, Ferrari took three F2002 chassis for both their test drivers Badoer and Luciano Burti. Both men concentrated on tyre testing for Bridgestone as well as on trying electronic components for the new car.
On a cold day at the Spanish track, Badoer completed a total of 59 laps before the rain hit the circuit late in the afternoon. The Italian driver finished ahead of German Ralf Schumacher, who continued working for the Williams team for the second consecutive day.
Schumacher worked on tyre testing and chassis set-up while Spaniard Marc Gene continued to put miles on the new BMW engine the Grove-based squad will use next season. Gene finished at the bottom of the times after 75 laps.
Testing will continue tomorrow, when the Renault team will join the session.
