Arrows Supertec driver Pedro de la Rosa has praised his team after the recent Silverstone test, where the Spaniard finished the last day second in the times

"The Team has taken a major step forward since last season, not only with an improved car but also in good attitude and high motivation," said De La Rosa, who has performed well this season, despite failing to score a point as yet.

"We must continue to work to put us where we should be, fighting to be in the top 5," he added.

"This may seem ambitious but I believe it's achievable, but we also mustn't get disappointed if results don't come immediately, and just concentrate on gelling together."

The Arrows-Supertec A21 has drawn praise from its rivals, particularly the effective suspension and neat aerodynamics.

"The A21 car is very good but due to lack of time we haven't really had the opportunity to develop the cars to their full potential," confirmed De La Rosa.

"There hasn't been enough testing time with currently no running in dry conditions. It does have major improvement on grip, down force and power though. It's a brand new car - nothing to do with the A20 used in 1999 so in that respect we have a car which is innovative, but also an unknown quantity which is different from all the other teams whose cars are at least some way based on their last season's car".

De La Rosa is confident for the Silverstone-based British Grand Prix after his recent test performance, but appreciates that there is much work to be done with what, until very recently, was a small scale, underfunded team.

"As for the forthcoming season there have been great improvements all round, but there is still a way to go. We need to do lots more testing, which will be a key role in how well we perform at races, as we will then have better knowledge and understanding for car set up in all situations. Coupled with the huge effort on the technical side of things, my fitness level is also in top form from continuous and structured training, which can only increase my performance in the car".
