Alonso Targets Brazilian GP Win
Championship leader Fernando Alonso is aiming to clinch his first world title in style by winning tomorrow's Brazilian Grand Prix
Spaniard Alonso, who needs just six points to become Formula One's youngest champion at the age of 24, claimed his fifth pole position of the season on Saturday and will line up alongside McLaren's Juan Pablo Montoya on the front row.
Kimi Raikkonen, the only man who can stop Alonso winning the title, qualified a disappointing fifth after making a mistake during his flying lap.
The Finn is 25 points adrift of the Renault leader with two races remaining after Brazil.
Although Alonso has been unable to fight with the McLarens in previous races, he believes the Interlagos race will be different.
"I think we did a good job all weekend and now the pole position is obviously great," said Alonso. "I was thinking to fight with Kimi because Juan Pablo had a bad track at the beginning and with Kimi's mistake the pole was much easier for me."
"For the last five or six races McLaren were too quick for us and we just hoped to win races but after 20 or 30 laps in the race we knew the best position was third or second sometimes. I think tomorrow it is different.
"We have a good car, we are in between them, first and third, and I think we can have a much more interesting race."
