Alonso leaps four places in Autosport readers' F1 driver ratings

Fernando Alonso has climbed four places in Autosport readers' Formula 1 driver ratings following the Singapore Grand Prix to get into the top three

The McLaren driver claimed his second 'Class B' victory of the season with seventh place in Singapore, earning an average rating from Autosport Plus readers of 9.3/10 for the weekend.

That vaults him up the order in the season-long averages from seventh to third, sitting him behind championship contenders Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.

Alonso wasn't the only driver in the field to register a score of nine or higher, with Hamilton's victory from an unexpected pole position earning him the top score for the weekend of 9.8/10.

Only 11% of the people to rate Hamilton for the weekend gave him a score other than 10/10.

Max Verstappen, who also starred to join Hamilton on the front row and finish second to the world championship leader, picked up a rating of 9.6/10, moving him up a place in the season-long rankings to 13th as his recovery from an incident-filled start to the year continues.

Behind the top three, Ferrari's 2019 signing Charles Leclerc moves up two places to fourth, putting him ahead of the team's outgoing driver Kimi Raikkonen when their average scores are taken to three decimal places.

Kevin Magnussen, who was third overall before the Singapore GP, drops three places to sixth after a tough weekend where he struggled for pace until he set the fastest lap late in the race, and only earned a score of 4.8 - his lowest of the season.

The majority of changes in the order feature between third and seventh place, with Valtteri Bottas dropping to the bottom of that group after a weekend where he was no match for team-mate Hamilton and only picked up a rating of 6.3/10.

Sergio Perez's incident-filled race, which included a collision with Force India team-mate Esteban Ocon at the start and a drivethrough penalty for driving into Sergey Sirotkin later on, earned him a rating of 2.4/10 from our readers.

Perez is only the third driver this season to pick up a rating lower than 3/10, joining Romain Grosjean (Azerbaijan) and Lance Stroll (Monaco) on that list.
