Alonso Fastest in Practice 4 - Britain

Raikkonen, who suffered an engine failure in Friday practice for last weekend's French Grand Prix, ground to a halt at the side of the track just seven minutes into the session and he will now have to change his engine.

Championship leader Fernando Alonso made the most of his opportunity when he finished fastest in the final session, with a time of 1:20.077 putting him just 0.051 ahead of lead McLaren driver Juan Pablo Montoya.

Toyota pair Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher showed that the team's pace on Friday may not be a flash in the pan as they secured third and fourth fastest times with Briton Jenson Button finishing fifth fastest for BAR-Honda.

Giancarlo Fisichella, in the second Renault, finished sixth fastest with Michael Schumacher seventh in his Ferrari and Williams duo Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld an encouraging eighth and ninth fastest respectively.

Christian Klien completed the top ten runners while Rubens Barrichello, in the second Ferrari, was down in 11th place and Raikkonen failed to complete a lap before his failure.

Montoya went off track at Stowe and Red Bull driver Christian Klien went off in the complex but both recovered, unlike David Coulthard, who stopped his Red Bull machine out on the circuit at Abbey.

Tiago Monteiro suffered an engine failure in his Jordan as the seconds ticked down to the end of the session, leaving the team to change the engine before the qualifying session.
