Alonso Fastest In Practice 3 - Europe

Championship leader Fernando Alonso finished fastest for Renault in the first Saturday morning practice session for the European Grand Prix after out-pacing McLaren pair Juan Pablo Montoya and Kimi Raikkonen

Alonso, who struggled at the last race in Monaco, set a time of 1:30.615 to finish 0.663 seconds ahead of second-placed Montoya with Raikkonen almost a second slower in third.

Giancarlo Fisichella, Alonso's teammate, finished fourth fastest with Ferrari pair Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher still in the mix with the fifth and sixth fastest times respectively.

Williams duo Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld finished seventh and eighth, separated by three hundredths of a second, with Ralf Schumacher ninth for Toyota and Takuma Sato posting BAR-Honda's first top-ten time of the weekend.

The weather was hot again and blue skies and burning sunshine pushed the early morning temperatures up to 25 degrees Celsius with expectations of further increases throughout the day.

Tiago Monteiro was in trouble again in his Jordan when he spun off at turn 14 but recovered, while Felipe Massa, of Sauber, and Fisichella both clattered the kerbs at the chicane in the only other incident of the session.
