F3000 star Fernando Alonso has confirmed he has been talking to Ferrari concerning a possible move to the World Champion team.
Alonso, who finished third in this year’s F3000 championship with the Astromega team after a win in the last race of the season at Spa, signed a contract as Minardi's test driver this season.
"The only certainty is that there have been contacts with Ferrari, just as other teams have called my manager and Minardi to ask for information about my contract," said the 19-year old Spaniard.
"I have a contract with Minardi so it is clear that if Ferrari wants me then they have to come to an agreement."
Though nothing has yet been signed, there are rumours that indicate Alonso could become Ferrari’s test driver next season, while he is also said to be a contender for the remaining seat at the Prost team.
"The only thing I can say is that I am really happy and proud that an important team like Ferrari has shown interest in me," he said. "I think it's normal that prestigious teams are interested in young drivers."
