Aero tweaks should help, claims Frentzen

Sauber's Heinz-Harald Frentzen is pinning his hopes of an improved performance in this weekend's Italian Grand Prix at Monza on aerodynamic revisions to his C22 chassis

The German, who could be entering his last Italian GP if he can't find a race seat next year, hopes that the aero updates will match the power from the C-spec Petronas engine - based on the unit that won the race last year in the back of a Ferrari.

"Power and aerodynamic efficiency are the keys to performance at Monza," said Frentzen, who was third fastest in testing last Tuesday at the Italian venue. "We have a lot of aerodynamic modifications for the C22 for this race, and after our recent performance there in testing I am looking forward to a competitive weekend."

Sauber's technical director Willy Rampf is also hopeful of scoring more points, as the Swiss constructor is languishing in ninth place in the constructors' championship.

"Pre-race testing has indicated that the Sauber Petronas C22 is competitive and well balanced in the very low downforce trim that you need at Monza," said Rampf. "In the last week's test here in Monza we have successfully examined newly developed aerodynamic parts such as a new floor, turning vanes, engine cover and rear wing."
