Jenson Button will join Sebastian Vettel in starting from the pitlane for the Canadian Grand Prix.
Vettel's fate was sealed on Saturday morning when he crashed heavily in the final free practice session and the damage meant he needed a spare car to be readied for the race.
The decision regarding Button came on Sunday morning when his Honda Racing team decided to make major changes to his car after a difficult weekend.
Having suffered a gearbox problem in qualifying, the team waited until this morning to decide whether or not to make a total replacement of the gearbox just to repair the damaged unit.
In the end, the Japanese manufacturer have changed his gearbox and also used the opportunity to change the rear suspension, the rear wing, the front spring and the front anti-roll bar.
A statement issued by the race stewards on Sunday morning said that both Vettel and Button would be required to start from the pitlane.
