Giancarlo Fisichella is happy waiting for Force India to decide whether or not they definitely want him for 2008, after emerging as clear favourite to take the second seat alongside Adrian Sutil.
The Italian impressed the outfit during a recent test for them at Jerez in Spain and is believed to be in the final stages of discussions about securing a race seat with the team for 2008.
And although Force India is his last real chance of remaining on the grid in Formula One, Fisichella is content to sit and wait for team management to make their mind up. He is facing competition from Vitantonio Liuzzi and Christian Klien.
Fisichella's manager Enrico Zanarini said: "We have been very happy with the Force India project from the very first moment we were given all details. And that was a long time ago, before the announcements of Renault and McLaren.
"I have been to the factory twice and Giancarlo once for two days, and we talked to everyone concerned. From that moment Giancarlo set his mind on the target and accepted Force India's invitation to test.
"At the end of the test both parties were extremely satisfied with the job done, but now it is up to Force India to make the final decision. We have no problems to wait until this will be done."
It is thought a final decision by the team will be made this week.
