BMW Sauber have gone public in their quest to find a new chief designer by taking the rare step of advertising for the position.
The team's former chief designer Jorg Zander was this week announced as new deputy technical director at Honda Racing.
However, he had already been moved away from his design position to a role at BMW's headquarters in Munich several months ago. The team wanted him to focus on powertrains so he could sort out reliability problems with their gearbox.
Their quest to find a suitable replacement to work with technical director Willy Rampf has now resulted in the team taking out a full page advert in this week's Autosport.
It is rare for teams to advertise for such senior positions, although the team may feel that going so public with their ambitions could stir up interest with suitable candidates that they did not think were available.
