Spanish test driver Marc Gene will stay with Ferrari next season, the Formula One team confirmed on Friday.
"He will remain at our disposal if required to be involved in testing," said a spokesman. "He will be with us next year, but with the reduction in testing it is less likely that he will do too many kilometres."
Italian Luca Badoer is Ferrari's main test and reserve driver.
Teams have agreed to a considerable reduction in testing next year, with less need for tyre testing in particular as Bridgestone become the sole supplier after Michelin's departure.
Gene, 32, has been with Ferrari since the end of 2004. Previously a test driver for Williams, he raced three times for that team in 2003-2004 as a stand-in.
He also started 33 races for now-defunct Minardi in 1999-2000.
