Pirelli has opted against the ultra-soft tyre for Formula 1's newest event on the calendar this season.
For the inaugural European Grand Prix in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on June 17-19, Pirelli has chosen the super-soft, soft and medium compounds.
The new ultra-soft rubber has primarily been designed for street circuits, and although the race will wind its way around Baku, the Italian manufacturer has chosen not to include the purple-banded tyre amongst its options.
Pirelli has also effectively declared the race a flyaway event as for those races its tyre nominations are announced 14 weeks in advance, compared to those in Europe whereby the deadline is eight weeks ahead.
It is why Pirelli has yet to declare the tyres available for the Spanish and Monaco Grands Prix, whereas the two races that follow in Canada, and now Azerbaijan, have been announced.
