There's a replay of Vettel attempting to get Hulkenberg and Sainz out of the way, but can't find a way past at Curva Grande.
Leclerc and Sainz managed to start final laps, but it seems the rest of the field...threw in the tow-el. It was tow-tally bizarre, and a Monz-strosity of a session. We'll stop.
Bottas: "Yeah, we were unlucky there, and to have the yellow flag in the last corner meant we probably missed the pole. It's always good fun, definitely enjoyed it and will hopefully enjoy tomorrow."
Hamilton: "Honestly, I have to be grateful we're on the front row, to have a fight with the Ferraris. It's a bit of an anti-climax, but we just timed out. It's definitely a risky business out there, but fun at the same time."
Leclerc: "Today to see so many people feels amazing. Happy with the pole, but disappointed at the end it was a big mess."
The stewards have declared that last lap of quali under investigation.
That's an absolutely bizarre end to qualifying - and if they weren't all faffing about at the start of the lap, we'd have a real shoot-out. Blimey.
Q3 results: 1 Leclerc, 2 Hamilton, 3 Bottas, 4 Vettel, 5 Ricciardo, 6 Hulkenberg, 7 Sainz, 8 Albon, 9 Stroll (no time), 10 Raikkonen (no time).
Sainz doesn't go quicker (obviously), he can only lap 1.1s slower in seventh - and thus Leclerc's pole position is confirmed. That was hilarious.
It's pole position, kind of by default, for Charles Leclerc - assuming Sainz doesn't suddenly go quicker somehow.
The Mercedes pair haven't, Vettel hasn't, the Renaults haven't, Albon hasn't, Stroll hasn't. Can you believe it?!
Chequered flag, and it seems that potentially only Sainz and Leclerc have made it!
At this rate, they'll all miss the chequered flag....
With less than two minutes left on the clock, there's still no sign of anyone - until, finally, Hulkenberg makes the first move, and everyone follows suit immediately.
The calm before the storm is upon us. Breathe, as it'll be a breathless and unrelenting end to the session.
We're back under green flag conditions with just over six minutes left in the session. Around four of those are likely to be completely uneventful, mind.
Current order: 1 Leclerc; 2 Hamilton, +0.039s; 3 Bottas, +0.047s; 4 Vettel, +0.150s; 5 Ricciardo, +0.532s; 6 Hulkenberg, +0.742s; 7 Sainz, +1.602s; 8 Albon, 9 Raikkonen, 10 Stroll.
Bottas' laptime is reinstated after all - he moves up to third place, 0.047s behind Leclerc.
Wherefore art thou, (Alfa) Romeo? Out of the session, with no time to speak of. Bottas, Albon and Stroll also have no times on the board.
This has screwed Raikkonen's compatriot Bottas monumentally - he looked very much in the mix for provisional pole, but was just a few seconds short of posting his laptime before the red flag.
Raikkonen's Alfa will need a new rear end. Team founder and ex-principal Peter Sauber watches on from the garage, stony-faced.
That's a red flag as the Finn hits the barrier at the Parabolica!
Raikkonen in the wall!
Renault do trucks as well as cars, and prove their worth as Leclerc gets a rather nice tow from Hulkenberg on his lap.
Hamilton comes over the start-finish line and ends up 0.039s slower than Leclerc.
Vettel's initial time is a 1m19.457s - and Leclerc is 0.150s quicker!
Vettel is the unfortunate soul running first on the road, and he ends up almost three tenths slower than Leclerc in the first sector.
The game's afoot! It's tow, or be towed at Monza. This is a mess.
The cars in Q3 are taking their sweet time to begin the contest in earnest - and ultimately it's the Mercedes pair who lead the way, going out after two minutes, only to pull over at pitlane exit and let the Ferraris past.
And here we go, Q3 now gets going at Monza.
Replay of Gasly and Raikkonen going side-by-side into the Parabolica, and it looked like the Finn got baulked slightly...not that it matters - Raikkonen's through and Gasly isn't.
"What a mess", says Kvyat, having lost his tow from Gasly. Both Toro Rossos are out of qualifying.
Advancing to Q3: 1 Hamilton, 2 Leclerc, 3 Vettel, 4 Ricciardo, 5 Bottas, 6 Albon, 7 Sainz, 8 Hulkenberg, 9 Stroll, 10 Raikkonen.
Eliminated: 11 Giovinazzi, 12 Magnussen, 13 Kvyat, 14 Norris, 15 Gasly.
Lewis Hamilton ends the session fastest with a 1m19.464s, as the two Ferraris abandon their laps.
Stroll is up to ninth, and Raikkonen beats Giovinazzi to 10th by 0.002s!
Hulkenberg betters his previous effort but stays seventh, before being demoted into eighth by Sainz.
Chequered flag, as Albon doesn't improve and stays sixth.
