Here's our report. We hope you've enjoyed the race - probably not the way anyone wanted this to go, but 'tis what it is. Thanks for joining us, we'll see you next time in Paul Ricard - join us then!
Lewis gets some unwelcome booing, but Vettel hushes them up immediately. What a weird day it's been.
Muted celebrations from the Ferrari duo. Vettel restricts the champagne to flowing entirely into his facehole, and gets stopped from making an early departure by Martin Brundle.
Vettel's there, and magnanimously shakes hands with Hamilton and Leclerc. But the silence is deafening.
Oh my! Vettel took the number two board, put it in front of Hamilton's car and put the number 1 board in the blank spot! This is going to be...interesting.
Vettel's gone straight to the Ferrari hospitality, but it looks like he's been prised out to the podium.
Leclerc: "I'm pretty happy about the performance, I think we were very quick, it's a shame we made some mistakes in qualifying. I'm disappointed for the team, we have all worked very hard to be there [...] and the team needed a victory today. Hopefully it'll come soon."
"It was so hot here, the Canadian weather is so hardcore for us here. I'm so grateful to have been there for the race."
"Firstly, I just want to say a big thank you for the team, we had a problem with the engine after my crash on Thursday. But it's not the way I want to get past." says Hamilton.
Vettel's just gone. He's got weighed, dropped the car in parc ferme, and sauntered off into the paddock.
Vettel can barely conceal his frustration. In fact, he isn't. "Where the hell am I supposed to go", he says once more.
Outside the points: 11 Sainz; 12 Perez; 13 Giovinazzi; 14 Grosjean; 15 Raikkonen; 16 Russell; 17 Magnussen; 18 Kubica
Result: 1 Hamilton; 2 Vettel; 3 Leclerc; 4 Bottas; 5 Verstappen; 6 Ricciardo; 7 Hulkenberg; 8 Gasly; 9 Stroll; 10 Kvyat
Leclerc crosses the line 6s behind Vettel on the road, so Vettel will drop into second place when his penalty is applied.
Ferrari tells Vettel to give it "all you have" - he's got one lap to pull out 3.7s over Hamilton, so...
Another strong lap from Leclerc and he's now just 6.6s behind Vettel. He probably won't get close enough to steal a place from his penalised team-mate with two laps left but it will be tight.
And there's the move for ninth, and Kvyat just seizes the opportunity to also power past Sainz too! Great opportunistic driving from the Toro Rosso driver.
"We need you to push as much as you can," Ferrari tells Leclerc, who is 7.2s from the on-the-road lead.
Bottas rejoins securely ahead of Verstappen still in fourth, and has three laps to try to get the fastest lap bonus back.
Mercedes asks Bottas to pit to grab soft tyres now he's got a sufficient gap over Verstappen. Time to get fastest lap back...
Stroll's right on the back of Sainz now - after FP3 woes and having to take an old engine, the Racing Point driver's had a brilliant day.
Leclerc has closed by another half a second on the leaders, so is now 7.4s from Vettel. There is a real chance Vettel could end up falling behind his team-mate and ending up third here...
Lead gaps on the road on on lap 64: 1 Vettel; 2 Hamilton +0.6s; 3 Leclerc +8.1s; 4 Bottas +35.4s; 5 Verstappen +57.6s
Leclerc sets another new fastest lap, a 1m14.356s. That's a second quicker than Vettel up front, and he's now 8.6s behind his team-mate...
Hamilton does his best lap of the race so far and is now within 0.9s of Vettel on the road. Only eight laps to go, it looks like there's no chance of Vettel building the lead he needs.
Vettel is ranting on the radio about the penalty and the incident. Ferrari urges him to stay calm and focus. "They are stealing the race from us!" he replies.
Rather than managing to push that lead back up to 5s, Vettel is watching the gap disappear - Hamilton is now within 1.7s on the road. He's halved the gap since Vettel was given the penalty.
