Raikkonen pays the price for being too cautious on his second run after a "not ideal" oversteer moment in his first Q3 run. Similar story to the last race at Silverstone where pole slipped through his hands.
Bottas says it was "a good lap" and that there wasn't two tenths left on the table to carry the fight to Vettel for pole.
 
 
A massive opportunity for Vettel here - starting from pole at home with his main title rival not even inside the top 10 on the grid.

Raikkonen misses out on pole again after a scruffy end to his final Q3 run.

Q3 positions: 1 Vettel, 2 Bottas, 3 Raikkonen, 4 Verstappen, 5 Magnussen, 6 Grosjean, 7 Hulkenberg, 8 Sainz, 9 Leclerc, 10 Perez.
 
Leclerc and Perez both post 1m12.7s, with the Sauber just ahead, taking ninth.
Hulkenberg is seventh, with Sainz up to eighth.
Verstappen improves, staying fourth, and Magnussen gets ahead of Grosjean to take fifth.
Vettel takes pole back on home soil!
Vettel is on course for pole, currently in the final sector...
Bottas goes fastest! What can Vettel do?
Raikkonen was 0.008s slower than Vettel!
Raikkonen crosses the line and he gets ahead of Bottas to take second.
That's it. The end of Q3 at Hockenheim.
But Vettel then beats his own best through the first sector...

Two minutes left in Q3, and the cars head back out of the pits for the final runs.
"I need to do strange things" says Leclerc when asked about the brakes. Sauber says "we will fix it for the race". Whatever 'it' is...
Leclerc and Sainz were on used tyres for those runs, so they should have more up their sleeves for the end of Q3.
 
Replays show Raikkonen having to catch an oversteer as he entered the stadium through that high-speed right-hander. More time on the table for the Finn considering that.
 
Q3 first runs: 1 Vettel, 2 Bottas, 3 Raikkonen, 4 Verstappen, 5 Grosjean, 6 Hulkenberg, 7 Magnussen, 8 Leclerc, 9 Sainz. No time: Perez.
 
"A bit of oversteer entry to mid [corner]" Verstappen reports as Red Bull asks for feedback on that first Q3 run.
Hulkenberg gets a Renault back onto the third row, taking sixth, and Leclerc puts his Sauber eighth.
