That's it for our live coverage today, we'll be back just before 8am tomorrow morning for day two. Until then, keep an eye on Autosport.com and Motorsport.com for all you need to know about the start of testing. We'll see you tomorrow!
Here's our report on the first day of testing, with Mercedes and Ferrari looking good, Red Bull salvaging its day and another disaster for McLaren-Honda:
Final order and lap count:
1 Hamilton (73)2 Vettel (128)3 Massa (103)4 Magnussen (51)5 Ricciardo (50)6 Bottas (79)7 Perez (39)8 Sainz (51)9 Hulkenberg (57)10 Alonso (29)11 Ericsson (72)
1 Hamilton (73)2 Vettel (128)3 Massa (103)4 Magnussen (51)5 Ricciardo (50)6 Bottas (79)7 Perez (39)8 Sainz (51)9 Hulkenberg (57)10 Alonso (29)11 Ericsson (72)
Magnussen alarms those who already have their end-of-day reports written by posting a personal best sector on his final lap, but he crosses the line seven tenths down on his best.
Late improvement from Ricciardo to move up to fifth, as a rather keen marshal seems desperate to get that chequered flag waved. He's been stood there holding it at the ready for a couple of minutes.
Alonso lobs in a late improvement on soft tyres, but a 1m24.852s still leaves the McLaren man 10th. Just before that, Vettel flashed by sporting aero paint on the floor in front of the right-rear wheel. He's circulating on the hard tyre at the moment.
Hamilton and Vettel are both still circulating, but the Ferrari is in the 1m26s so it doesn't look like he is a threat to Mercedes in the final few minutes of the day.
Lots of talk ahead of testing starting today was along the lines of "If Mercedes manages 100 laps on day one..." - Well, it's managed a phenomenal number of laps (144 right now), but Ferrari has also got into triple figures and has steered clear of anything softer than the medium tyre. Obviously it could have found its pace through low-fuel, but neutrals (and the Tifosi) will be hoping that it's a good sign.
Not a fan of the shark fins on the new breed of F1 cars? Red Bull's Christian Horner says teams warned the FIA about a loophole that would lead to their return last year:
Two personal best sectors for Hulkenberg, but the middle sector lets him down and he's unable to improve on his 1m24.784s.
A little over 20 minutes to go. Here's the order and lap count:
1 Hamilton (59)2 Vettel (112)3 Massa (98)4 Magnussen (47)5 Bottas (79)6 Ricciardo (41)7 Perez (39)8 Sainz (51)9 Hulkenberg (43)10 Alonso (20)11 Ericsson (70)
1 Hamilton (59)2 Vettel (112)3 Massa (98)4 Magnussen (47)5 Bottas (79)6 Ricciardo (41)7 Perez (39)8 Sainz (51)9 Hulkenberg (43)10 Alonso (20)11 Ericsson (70)
The latest from McLaren. Racing director Eric Boullier says the issues that have plagued Alonso's day were not expected, following a smooth filming day yesterday:
Those soft tyres (or 'tires' if you are Haas) work a treat for Magnussen, who climbs up to fourth with a 1m23.039s.
Things are getting busier out there as we approach the final 30 minutes of the day: Hamilton, Vettel, Massa, Ricciardo, Magnussen and Alonso are all on track.
Vettel has finally chosen a different tyre compound...but it's only the hards. Ferrari staying away from the 'quick' tyres today.

Massa has the track to himself at the moment, and he's only 10 laps away from notching up 100 for Williams today.
Massa breaks the silence, starting his 87th lap of the day in the Williams. When he retired from F1 at the end of last year he wouldn't have expected to be pounding round Barcelona just a few months later.
