Status: Stopped
That's it for us on the live action front for today but not to worry as we'll be back tomorrow morning ahead of FP3 for the F1 Tuscan GP which starts at 11:00 UK time (12:00 local time). Until then, have a lovely Friday. Ciao!
Well, races aren't won on Fridays but Bottas has gone the right way about it aiming to finish on the top step of the rostrum on Sunday. A really positive day for the Finn after struggling at Monza last weekend.
That's one way to grab the spotlight on Ferrari's 1000th GP. Vettel will be looking for a lift back to the paddock with his Ferrari parked in the first sector.

"The engine has stopped," Vettel tells his Ferrari team as he comes to a halt on track at the end of the session.
Bottas claims top spot for both practice sessions today, with Mercedes team-mate Hamilton in second place ahead the Red Bulls.
The chequered flag is out to signal the end of FP2!
After their earlier clash both Perez and Raikkonen have returned to track action so by the looks of it there are no major consequences for either driver, thankfully.
F1 drivers have to practice on every inch of this circuit given its unfamiliarity, even the pitlane entry. TV replays catch Albon locking up braking for the pitlane entry line. Good thing he won't need those tyres tomorrow.
The long runs resume so there should be very little change on the timesheet for the rest of the session. It hasn't been a great afternoon for Norris (nine laps) or Grosjean (five laps) due to their respective problems.

That red flag has somewhat stalled the race runs for all the F1 drivers, having endured the same situation in the earlier qualifying sims with the first stoppage, and at a circuit they've never raced at before that could become a factor on Sunday afternoon.
That incident between Perez and Raikkonen will be investigated after the session by the FIA race stewards. In the mean time FP2 is back underway.
Raikkonen, who managed to scramble out of the gravel trap, will also need a fair amount of repairs to his Alfa Romeo which could signal the end of his FP2.
Perez is going to need a new front wing as he pits with most of the left part of the wing missing, scattered across the first corner.
The session has been stopped for a second time today, on this occasion to clear debris off the track from the clash between Perez and Raikkonen.
Oh! Raikkonen, on a timed lap, gets clipped by Perez at Turn 1 who had just come out of the pitlane and the contact has sent the Finn into the gravel.

Fresh from his stunning victory at Monza last weekend, Gasly has started strongly today and is currently P8 for AlphaTauri while team-mate Kvyat is P15. It is only Friday practice but the French driver is right in the middle of the midfield fighters against the likes of Renault and Racing Point.
The Ferrari driver completes a full spin having lost the rears on the exit of Turn 12 trying to get on the power before Turn 13. Vettel is able to continue without any major issues aside from some very dirty tyres.
Vettel has been off the track at Turn 13 which has caused a short yellow flag period.

As a result, the bulk of the soft tyre qualifying-style runs are over with just under 30 minutes to go. Race runs the order of the afternoon next.
"Has anyone improved on their second laps?" Hamilton asks his race engineer Pete Bonnington. "It looks like the second lap on the softs is pretty poor," is his response. It does appear the life of the soft tyres will be short lived around Mugello this weekend.
"Have we lost gear sync?" Albon asks his Red Bull team.

Red Bull's Verstappen slots into third place, within two-tenths of Bottas and Hamilton, with team-mate Albon in fourth but almost a full second back.
Bottas is into the 1m16s bracket as he sets a 1m16.989s. That's fast enough to keep top spot from Mercedes team-mate Hamilton who sets a 1m17.196s moments later.
Ocon leaps up to P3 with a 1m18.115s to go within one-tenth of his Renault team-mate.
The majority of F1 drivers decide to return to their soft tyre runs straight away.

After a speedy clear up, FP2 is back underway.
With half of the session to go, this red flag has somewhat wrecked the planned programmes for the teams with the majority of drivers having to end their soft tyre runs prematurely.

Norris is all OK as he steps out of his McLaren and hitches a lift to the paddock on the back of a scooter with a track marshal.
Replays show Norris running wide at the exit of Turn 3, dipping his left-hand wheels on the gravel and at speed he spins off which sees his front wing ripped off by the impact with the barrier.
FP2 has duly been stopped after the crash by Norris.
Norris has crashed! The McLaren driver has gone off at the exit of Turn 3.
Perez is the lastest climber, up to second place, with a 1m18.198s. But he's quickly pushed down one spot by Ricciardo who puts in a 1m18.039s.
