Peugeot: Ogier can help us to title
Peugeot Sport boss Olivier Quesnel is hoping that drafting in Sebastien Ogier for this week's Rally d'Italia-Sardegna will help the manufacturer to get its Intercontinental Rally Challenge title hopes back on track
The Skodas of Juho Hanninen and Jan Kopecky are currently first and second in the series standings, with Guy Wilks third and Peugeot's top driver - reigning champion Kris Meeke - only fourth, 17 points behind Hanninen. Peugeot also trails Skoda 33 points to 64 in the manufacturers' points.
"For the drivers' title I am not anxious because I am sure Kris Meeke can do it again - the Peugeot is still a good car with a good performance," said Quesnel.
"For the manufacturers' title, Kris is a little bit alone because [fellow Peugeot drivers] Bruno Magalhaes and Thierry Neuville are inexperienced in the IRC. So I don't have any problem to ask Ogier to come help Peugeot get the title again."
Ogier won last season's IRC opener, the Monte Carlo Rally, in a Peugeot 207 S2000 and last week claimed his maiden WRC victory in Portugal.
